Le Chat Noir

Most of my jewellery is from childhood.  I went through a misguided phase of buying tat as a grown up, then realised my error and gave it all to charity shops.  These days then, I have very little jewellery and most of it I've had since I was a child.  I kept a lot of it for sentimental value, but I have come to like wearing a lot of it.  This black cat brooch was a present from my Grandmother.  It's painted wood, and a bit chipped around the edges.  Its eyes have also worn off.  But I thought it was the perfect finishing touch to this Parisienne inspired outfit.

  1. Ooh la la!! Looking so very parisienne! You look amazing....love the crop top and pencil skirt. The brooch is gorgeous, I have a bracelet that my nan gave to me when I was a child. It's so pretty, green and white flowers, it still fits and I wear it every now and again, I love that it always reminds me of her xx

  2. I have a gold watch I got from my grandmother in my confirmation when I was 14. I don't know if it counts fully as a childhood, but I assure you I was a child back then (maybe I still am :D). I've worn it for a long time, but since it's hot outside I try to avoid wearing jewellery, because it leaves tanlines and my hands swell in hot air so it's uncomfortable. I also have some other jewellery from back then, like a cross necklace, but I don't like wearing religious stuff nowadays. I guess I could try though since my other jewellery is mostly worthless bauble. :)

  6. I love this outfit--especially the little cat brooch! Also, those shoes are just about perfect!

I still have a pearl necklace that I wear all the time that I got when I was about 8 or 9. I've even worn it on my blog before. It's just the perfect strand of pearls, and it was the first "grown up" piece of jewelry my parents ever gave me so I've always sort of treasured it for that reason.

    Cheers,
    Jenny

  7. INCREDIBLE LOOK! So french....so sexy....so simple. And that black brooch from your grandmother is so cool! You just reminded me that I should start wearing all of the beautiful jewelry I've been given over the years. I just started to accumulate items worth keeping. The only thing I bought for myself during my childhood involved pastel colored beads. You must have had great fashion sense even as a child!
