Frozen

When the temperature plummets there's a cool beauty to the surrounding scenery, with some gorgeous gold colours against the weak blue sky.  I just had to share some of my recent snaps.

Sometimes, when there are weeks on end of wind and rain, it's hard to appreciate Winter.  A crisp sunny day can stop me wishing the colder months away and find some appreciation in them.

How are you doing this winter, are you longing for the Spring yet?

  1. Ooh...you got some wonderful photos here. Almost makes me want to like winter. And by like I mean tolerate.

The best thing about my winter? I get to leave it soon for a beach!

  2. Have to agree with Suzanne's sentiments... best thing about winter is that Spring/Summer follow it!! But these are beautiful photos, at least ;) 3 more sleeps! x

  3. Lovely photos. I can cope OK with winter, as long as we don't have weeks of frozen, impacted snow - I hate that! xx

  4. It's actually been a very mild winter so far, so I can't really complain. Plenty of days where I can get away with a lighter coat, or just a sweater and a jacket, and a little sunshine definitely helps.
These photos are beautiful. They're actually making me wish it was a little colder! I love the 3rd one, with the frosted ferns or branches, and the second from the last.

  6. These are GORGEOUS photos!

I honestly wish I was experiencing a beautiful cold spell like you! Here in California it's been sunny, with a handful of rainy days, but nothing below the 50s it seems!

    1. Thanks Janey, though I think if you experienced the British weather for any length you'd soon hi-tail it back to California!! I'm jealous of YOUR weather!! X

  7. I'm always longing for spring, I'm very much a late-spring-early-summer person. Nothing's growing in winter. It must be super to be able to get to the top of a hill and get a good dose of sunlight on a winter day.

    1. Yes Mim it's one of the things I really appreciate about where we are, you can always escape the dark valleys and head for higher ground! X

  8. So true. I something think that with winter, it's had to see the forest (err, frost?) for the trees because we're just so focused on staying warm, not slipping on ice, and coping with such short hours of daylight. Beautiful post and reminder to stop and smell the frozen roses during this icy time of the year.

  9. Love your pictures! They are so lovely! You're getting quite good with your new camera! As for winter here, it's been unusually warm and not so unusually dry for our wet season :( We are all hoping for more rain :(
