Daywear
In early May, Nerja was much cooler than in September, when we've previously visited. This meant I had a bit more flexibility in day wear, and was able to wear things like sundresses without fear of incineration. I still slapped on the factor 30, kept to the shade and wore a hat, but I didn't need to keep quite as covered up. So, a few more dresses for day this year along with a handful of separates. In terms of shoes for day, I had a pair of yellow flat loafers, a pair of striped beach shoes, and two pairs of Clarks sandals. A big vintage raffia bag was perfect for carting about sunscreen, a bottle of water, maps, snacks and my camera.

Eveningwear
Some of my day wear transitioned from day to night, with a change of shoes, jewellery etc. I also repeated some evening outfits, as we were going to different establishments. Stupidly, the jacket I wore for the flights didn't go with any of my evening wear. Luckily my husband had brought a few jackets, and I borrowed both his denim jacket and leather jacket, which both looked fine as long as I rolled the sleeves up a little. For shoes, I had a pair of bronze Clarks strappy heels, and a pair of black and gold wedges which I wore once because they cut my feet to ribbons. Never trial new shoes on holiday...

Overall, it worked well. I always take two pairs of sunglasses, a handful of silk scarves, a little jewellery, and a different bag for evening than for day. This has been a formula that has worked for years, and doesn't matter even if I don't use something as small items don't make much difference to luggage allowance. Six pairs of shoes was perhaps slightly excessive for a week, I might try and trim that down next time!
What I wore to travel in:
Pink gingham capris, Seamstress of Bloomsbury light wool jacket, white shirt, silk scarf in hair.
Things I didn't wear:
The second bikini (the sea was too cold to swim in)
Various tops (too low cut for in the sun, but too cold to wear at night!).
What would I bring next time?
Perhaps another jacket for evening - or just double-check which ones my husband is taking so that I can steal them again...

I love your holiday looks, they're so stylish but also so casual - you look relaxed but never like you can't be bothered. That straw tote is ace.
ReplyDeleteWow! Especially the Twiggy skirt and Laura Ashley top! What a fabulous Saint Tropez look!

Your holiday wardrobe is fabulous! I'm especially enamoured by the Laura Ashley sundress, and the necklace you're wearing with it. Love the yellow loafers, and they look super comfortable as well. And that vintage raffia bag is to die for! I'm already stressing about my holiday wardrobe and I seem to be changing my mind by the hour. I am so glad we're travelling by car, so no luggage restrictions, as long as it all fits in the car ;-) I was thinking of taking six pairs of shoes for two weeks, and after reading your post I don't think that's extravagant! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful outfits.

I’ve learned that new shoe lesson... actually I haven’t, I still do it!! I now just take a big supply of Compeed plasters and try to anticipate the sore spots before they get me... one must suffer for beauty ;) Your eBay sleuthing skills are really something - and it always pays off, because that Laura Ashley dress is another gorgeous find that really suits you. I think you did really well having lots of different looks and colours xx
ReplyDeleteA fabulous selection of holiday outfits. I love the Laura Ashley dress and the San Simone vintage one.
ReplyDeleteI took four pairs of sandals for five five weeks in India and felt guilty (although it didn't stop me coming back with four more pairs!) xxx
I think you were certainly one of the best dressed tourists out there!
ReplyDeleteYou looked so fabulously stylish! I love all your pretty, retro day looks, especially the Laura Ashley and the green tea dress, and the black polka dot dress for evening is absolutely amazing on you.
