It's a bumper post, two months in one! Time has galloped past, so I was struggling to remember what I've bought exactly, and had to look through my PayPal and bank statements. I was away in Spain for a week at the start of May, and then there were a few weekend commitments that restricted my trips to charity shops and car boot sales.&newersp; Somehow I have still managed to have shopped quite a bit...
On my way to a wedding, a quick pitstop in a Welsh village resulted in two hats. I wear 'baker boy' styles quite a bit in winter as they are quite wind/rain proof. The assymetric brown hat has a very '20s feel on. I think the baker boy was a quid and the brown one about £7.
One of my favourite online shops, Secondhand Rose Vintage, had a Lady K Loves tie-up shirt for £10. Tie-up shirts are a wardrobe staple for me. I also bought a plain white chiffon headscarf off Ebay, and a '60s tasseled necklace at the car boot.
I love the colour coral, and peplums, so this coral vintage Eastex peplum blouse fell into my Ebay basket, £9. It will look good in the autumn with tweed wide leg trousers or a pencil skirt.
It' s hard to capture the vibrant green of this Warehouse dress that I bought at the car boot for a pound. It feels quite '70s when worn with platform heels.
The gold tone matching necklace and bracelet set was a charity shop buy, £4.99. I was really surprised to see it stamped with "M&S". I thought everything was "St Michael" in the 50s/60s. More research needed there!
Also from the car boot for a pound was this modern kimono, great for loungewear around the house. The fluffy wedge slippers are by Dunlop (odd?!) and are also available in red and black should they take your fancy. They were about £13, new off Ebay.
You've already seen the gorgeous white ruffle sleeve blouse from Ebay that I wore on my trip to Somerset.
On the same trip I picked up these gorgeous multi-colour beads from Frome, charity shopped for £2.
The trip to Shepton flea was fairly fruitful, I came away with this fab 1960s homemade dress with giant covered buttons for a fiver. It is very Mad Men, will look great with a belt for work.
Also from Shepton flea was an assortment of vintage beads, really useful to have in different colours. A quid each I think. They're pictured below with a charity shopped Henry Holland Western shirt for 99p.
This raffia bag was another boot sale bargain, for 50p. And yes, it is a sister bag to one I already have.
Another purchase you've already seen was this green vintage Carnegie dress.
So far it's all been bargains. This next buy was not a bargain. I paid full price, no discount at all!! I have been eyeing it for ages - I love a green palm print as many existing items in my wardrobe attest - and watching it sell out in other sizes, edging towards my size... I caved in. £63.50, ouch!! But it is just fabulous on, I love it. Oddly will need hemming though, it is super long!
That's all folks!
I always say it, but its so true! I enjoy these posts. The home made dress wit the large buttons is beautiful and of course I have a thing with bags so the raffia bag is also a fave, even more after reading what you paid for it: SCORE!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing your purchases and a bumper edition this time: yay! You did very well, and there's quite a few things I'm coveting, especially that coral Eastex peplum blouse, the M&S necklace and bracelet set, the multicoloured beads and the "Mad Men" frock. After all these frugal buys, you deserved that more expensive purchase, don't you think? xxx
ReplyDeleteI adore the white slippers! Although they are new, they give me a70s feel. And both dresses are fabulous! I'm looking forward to thrift shop in the UK in September!
ReplyDeleteSo many good finds! I adore that cactus top!

That's a bumper buying post!
ReplyDeleteThe slippers are fab. I've sold some wonderful 1970s Dunlop shoes in the past, Jon's worn his Dunlop wellies for over a decade.
The Shepton flea dress is gorgeous as is the Carnegie green beauty! xxx
Aaah you've found some ace things.
ReplyDeleteAfter you put the M&S set on your Instagram I had a look at their archive pages - they didn't have anything to do with making their own jewellery till the 1980s, but they did also have photos showing they were selling jewellery in the 1930s, so who knows when they did it?!
Some wonderful finds! I think that shopping the majority of clothing secondhand/on sale, means that you can put all that you have saved towards a more expensive purchase every once in a while. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful buys as ever! Is the palm print trousers or a maxi? Absolutely GORGEOUS print no wonder you paid full price, I have done the same with things I can't bear to miss out on.
ReplyDeleteI gather wearing fluffy slippers and fluffy mules out is all in at the moment!?! I have Dunlop wellies which I got from working at the Library when a shipment got sent by mistake. Frankly they could withstand the apocalypse and will long outlive me!
