Nature Snaps

We were lucky to have a few glorious days of Spring sunshine!  I was a bit snap-happy, here are some of the photos that I took in my garden and in the countryside nearby where I live.

Isn't this tree a bit Sleepy Hollow?!

I can see my house in this pic!

View sitting on my front step, I have to pinch myself sometimes!

Are there signs of Spring where you live?  What kind of countryside do you like most - forests, mountains, seaside, or flat farmland??

Also, if you can identify any of the plants in the bottom few pictures I'd be ever so grateful!  I have a lot to learn about gardening!!

  1. What a beautiful place to live! I'm not surprised you were inspired to take photographs.

I've been looking at your plant photographs. I'm pretty sure that the last one is of a Pieris. The one above that could be a type of hellebore. Google those names and see if you can identify the specific plants! The little white flowers are more difficult to identify, as there are a few things which flower in early spring like that. Are there four petals per flower? Is is a tree, or a shrub (smaller, more bushy)?

    1. Helena, you are a fountain of garden knowledge - thank you so much!! It turns out that yes, they are Pieris, and Stinking Hellebore (what a charming name!!). As for the tree, yes there are four petals per flower, and I suspect could be a type of cherry, but further investigation is needed.

      Thanks for stopping by! x

  3. That gnarled tree is definitely channeling a Sleepy Hollow vibe, I completely agree. It's a marvelous, twisty, engaging bit of nature isn't it? Like something one might find a star character sitting atop in a children's fairy tale.

    1. It captured my imagination for sure Jessica! The forest is full of magical little bits of nature like this, I want to do a fairy story photoshoot, perhaps with a red cape like Red Riding Hood, or with a crown of flowers! x
