Early Autumn Dressing: Jersey Dress & Heeled Brogues

Here in Wales we've had some truly lovely early Autumn days, with rosy sunsets, crisp mornings, and the sun dipping down in the sky to cast the most spectacular shadows and colours across the hills.  It's tempting on a cool and crisp morning to put on tights and boots and a heavier coat, but by midday the mist has burnt off and we're treated to a burst of afternoon sunshine that will have you sweltering in no time.  Best to brave the bare legs in the mornings a tad longer.

Early Autumn Dressing

I have to point out that lovely, white painted wall in the background.  It took up an afternoon of our time over the weekend.  Here are some before and after photos - doesn't it look so much better?  We have to do the rest now!  What do you think, Mother? (She reads my blog now, just testing that she's paying attention...)

And I'll leave you with a view from the hill that we live at the bottom of.  Pretty gorgeous, isn't it?

Early Autumn Dressing

How are you all getting on with transitional dressing?  Are you layering up more to get more wear from your summer clothes, or have you plunged headlong into your Autumn wardrobes?

  1. Aaaah, Wales is just dreamy in the sunshine.

That's a really nice dress, and it's great to see the Trifari pearls getting an outing so soon! I'm in an in-between stage, dresswise. It really depends on the weather, so some days it's summer dresses plus knitwear and on others the heavier fabrics come out.

    1. I'm enjoying wearing the Trifari, but another pearl popped out last night when I was taking it off - must get the superglue out!! x

  2. Your dress is so figure flattering and such a lovely colour. I know what you mean about the changing temperatures throughout the day but it has been glorious hasn't it. Love the wall x

    1. I'm so pleased you like the wall!! It was hard work and we have many more walls to paint, plus need to refinish the top because at some point it was removed and it's all uneven now. x

  3. The wall is really cheery and your hometown looks glorious. I have to visit Wales to see this beauty first hand. And I love your dress, so pretty! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xo.

  4. Not only does the wall look great, it is also a great backdrop now for outfit photos - good work ;) I'm having an awful time with the seasons at the moment - I leave for work before 7am every morning when it's about 5 degrees, in several layers and a huge scarf. Without fail every journey home I'm sweltering and/or carrying everything I wore in the morning. Can't stand it!

Another great supermarket find I notice - good old supermarkets! I always look in my Sainsbury's but you seem to find much better stuff than I ever do! It's still Tesco for me... CC x

    1. Ha, my OH did indeed comment that we can use the wall now for outfit photos!! I've brain-washed him completely into 'think blog'. I am a bag lady these days as well, always carrying a scarf, a coat etc. But like you I leave early in the morning when it's decidedly chilly. I did layer up this dress with a cardigan, scarf and trench. x

  5. You look stunning. And the nature is amazing, dear.
Autumn is the greatest season. The food prepared from the seasonal ingredients is good, the smell in the air is refreshing, the long walks are a must-do. The fashion (as you're showing here) is the best in the year.. layering-addict speaking. :)

    1. I'm not sure about eskimos, I tend to lean more towards bag lady in the colder months! x

  7. You're right, chilly mornings and sunny afternoons mean that it's not quite time for tights and boots and thick coats yet! Gorgeous dress, your freshly painted wall looks great, and don't you live in a pretty spot? xxx

  10. I love your view, that's really something. It reminds me a little bit of California, with the lights twinkling off in the distance in the hills. Those shoes, too... I have such a weakness for heeled oxfords.
I've definitely gone straight from summer into autumn/winter pieces, despite the fact that it's still getting up to 70 most days. Once I start wanting to change things up, it drives me crazy until I do. I actually just finished doing my wardrobe changeover, pulling out all of my cold weather clothing and washing/mending the summer items that I'm putting away. It was so satisfying.

    1. Oh yes, a wardrobe changover can be very satisfying! I will do mine over the next few weeks, I take my time with it. That's funny you mention California, we both saw a resemblance too! Only at night mind! X

  16. I mainly just add tights to dresses and wear a slightly thicker jacket, or add a cardigan undernearth the jacket. I got completely surprised by the weather, 3 days ago in the morning it was warm and nice, but in the afternoon it was cold. Next morning it was snowing. Greetings from Finland, winter came early this year. :D Everything melted away and I dare to hope I don't need to start wearing my woolcoat just yet in case it gets warmer again. As much as I love winter, I don't love it two months too early.

    1. I can't believe you've had snow already, that's crazy! I hope it was just a one-off, and that it stays a bit warmer for a few months more...

  17. The white on wall really does make a difference! Great job on it! I'm definitely a hold off and layer person around these changing seasons. With our weather here in Northern California there are still days to come that might get rather hot. I do love going through my closets once the weather really changes to the cooler months though. It's nice to pull everything out and see dresses I haven't seen in months. It helps to remind me what I have in the closet! ;)
