A Festive Recap

My oh my, what a month!  I hope that you all had a lovely break over Christmas?

December for me has been filled with visiting friends and family, days out to National Trust properties, lots of cooking, and a spot of dressing up.

I can't possibly write blog posts about all of the adventures I've been on, as I'd still be publishing them in the Spring, so here's a brief pictorial roundup instead.

Above and below: another sprinkling of snow, we've had several snow falls over the past couple of weeks.  We tried and failed to get up that road that goes off to the left - too much ice!

I'm writing this whilst watching Guys and Dolls, as another snow storm swirls down the valley past my window.  I think the rest of this week will be spent hibernating, and taking a well-earned rest from the hustle and bustle.  There's still leftover cake to be eaten, and I've had trifle for breakfast for the last few days.  It's not all indulgence, I've also been doing yoga every morning, even on Christmas Day.  End the year as you wish the next one to start!

  1. Once again you've captured some great photos of your area.

Love your dress and fuzzy accessories for Christmas.

We have also been hit by winter pretty hard this past week. We had over a foot of snow on Christmas and New Years and now are deep in a freezer with -20 C with windchill as our high for the next few days ! : (

    Winter can go away now.

    1. I really cannot imagine how hard a winter you're having, that sounds really impossible to dress for!!

  2. Really beautiful photos here, thanks for sharing them...I would love to experience a beautiful white Christmas one year, instead of a stinking hot/humid one! :)

    1. You'll have to go a bit further North to get a guaranteed White Christmas - I've always fancied somewhere like Finland, spending it in a lodge in the woods.

    1. I have a few green dresses now but need to wear them more, I don't know why I don't - thanks for the reminder! I think a wardrobe sort-out is needed again...

  4. I'm glad you are having a wonderfully fun-packed festive season. That last outfit looks spectacular out in the winter wilds.
Another all year round exerciser here, yoga on Xmas Day for me, too. xxx

    1. Aha, good to hear you've been at the yoga too! I do like to eat more at Christmas, so I have to try and mitigate it somehow!

  5. Thanks for sharing your festive photos! The green dress you're wearing is stunning, and I'm totally in love with the little furry capelet, almost like angels' wings, and the furry headpiece! I'd love to go for a walk in the snow, but the only time it snowed here so far was a working day ... Plus, it would never be as wonderful as in your part of the world! xxx

    1. All the faux fur, pom poms and feathers was perhaps a bit frivolous but it was Christmas after all!!

    1. Thanks Nicole, I love that scarf but it hasn't featured much on the blog - I hope to work it into some more outfits soon.

  8. Such a lovely set of photos, capturing the essence of your Christmas. The third photo - in front of the tree - is absolutely lovely, such a great combination of hat, glasses, coat and with your hair falling over the fur collar! Thank for all the great posts this year - and happy new year! K x

  9. Ah, I have Guys And Dolls saved on the Tivo - I love Runyon's stories, so I hope the musical is as engaging. (This is where it turns out I've got things completely wrong and the musical isn't based on those stories at all...)

Hibernating is good - Christmas should be a time to recharge batteries, not to come out more frazzled than you began it. And yours looks like it's been splendidly festive.

    1. So...Guys and Dolls...I wasn't that impressed. What did you think??

  10. I gave up, it went on too long! Probably great in the theatre, but too much to sit through on screen. I recommend Runyon's stories, though; his tales of gamblers and drunks, showgirls and petty criminals are entertaining. You can't read them without hearing them in a Brooklyn accent in your head.
