It's time for the monthly shopping update! Last month was a bit spendy, so I deliberately tightened the purse strings this month and stuck to all second-hand clothes. I don't think I even ventured through the doorway of a 'proper shop'.
We've had a few particularly cold spells (currently really cold spells with the 'Beast from the East'), so it seemed sensible to stock up on a couple of long-sleeve poloneck tops from the charity shops' winter sales. The purple one is an M&S thermal (£1) - with sparkle - and the other is just a Primark one, but is silver with a lot of sparkle (£2.99. Why not stay cosy and still feel a bit partyish?
Like last month, I received a pair of gloves from my husband (Is this a regular gift I wonder? I'd rather have gloves than flowers to be honest!). He actually bought me two pairs, but it turned out that one of the pairs was two right hand gloves... Oops! Check those gloves before you buy them!f
He bought me a White Stuff belt too, it is leather and has pretty little hearts on. I haven't managed to photograph it though and it's too dark now, so just use your imagination. His final gift to me in February was a vintage hat by Peter Bettley. I do have a wedding to go to in May, maybe I should plan an outfit around the hat?
I bought myself a M&S top with good sleeves, and in the same place found a lovely red Jaeger dress that will do nicely for work. Both items were just £1, I couldn't leave them there!
Another day, another quick charity shop visit, and I found this pair of leather Tamaris shoe boots for £4.99.
I've spent a lot more time looking at Instagram vintage sellers lately, and was pleased to purchase this 1960s Glomesh bag. It was £20, which is a lot for me! I love it though, it goes with lots of things and it's big enough to chuck all my stuff in.
To restore balance to the universe I spent just £3 on this large black leather tote bag from a charity shop. It will be indispensable I'm sure, it's big enough for files or a laptop.
I had high hopes for a few vintage events this past month, but I was left disappointed. At Lou Lou's vintage fair in Cardiff I didn't buy a single thing! Some of my usual favourite sellers weren't there this time. I did try on some Chanel shoes, which were alas a size too small else they would have come home with me in a heartbeat. We also went to a vintage kilo sale, which was dire.
That's it!
What did you buy in February?
I've heard bad things about those vintage kilo sales. Basically they are more like garbage kilo sales.
ReplyDeleteI love that sparkly turtleneck and your mesh bag. So 60's chic!
Shame about the Chanel shoes.

The majority of clothing there was not at all vintage, it wasn't even 90s - loads of 'dance wear' and 'costumes'. Weird stuff, and not in a good way... I will avoid them in future!!
DeleteI had that experience at one too - I won't be going to another.
DeleteHow frugal you've been! Still, I'm loving the sparkly polonecks, which I'm sure will come in handy. The M&S top is fab, as are the Tamaris shoes. I find their shoes really comfy. But best of all I'm loving your most expensive buy, the 1960s Glomesh bag. I'm sure £ 20 is still a good price too. xxx
ReplyDeleteFab spends - again! I do enjoy these posts.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant score on those sparkly tops, they're just the thing for winterising skimpier dresses, aren't they? Practical without being sensible.
I was admiring that blouse on a vintage trader recently, i was amazed it was from M&S.
The glove story made me giggle but I'm with you, gloves over flowers any day of the week! xxx
I love that white bag! You always have these amazing bargains!
ReplyDeleteThe glamesh bag was such a score Porcelina ! As usual great finds.
ReplyDeleteThat M&S top is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNice finds! I really like that blue floral print top and the new handbag.
ReplyDeleteThat 60s bag is amazing - worth the extra spend! I'm impressed by the shoe boots too, I love Tamaris stuff xx
ReplyDeleteYou do make great charity shop finds - though that Glomesh bag is the real winner. It's the sort of thing that will add a brilliant accent to any outfit.
