Holiday Wardrobe May 2018

I can't believe it's now almost a month since I was in Spain!  This might be a little late but this annual post is mainly for me, as a record to refer back to when my next holiday rolls around, so I'm posting anyway.

Daywear
In early May, Nerja was much cooler than in September, when we've previously visited. This meant I had a bit more flexibility in day wear, and was able to wear things like sundresses without fear of incineration.  I still slapped on the factor 30, kept to the shade and wore a hat, but I didn't need to keep quite as covered up.  So, a few more dresses for day this year along with a handful of separates.  In terms of shoes for day, I had a pair of yellow flat loafers, a pair of striped beach shoes, and two pairs of Clarks sandals.  A big vintage raffia bag was perfect for carting about sunscreen, a bottle of water, maps, snacks and my camera.

What I Wore on Holiday: Evening Wear

I'm back with part two of what I wore on holiday.  Last time I shared my day wear with you, but today it's evening wear.  For me, that's all about dresses.  It's no secret that my husband and I love nothing better than getting dressed up to the nines, and we both deliberated quite a bit about what to wear in the evenings when out on the town.  Items were in and out of the suitcase in the days before we left!  We were going for seven nights, so in the end I was restrained and took seven dresses for the evenings.  Here you go.  I've sneaked a few photos of my husband in as well, because he scrubs up very well.

On the first night I wore my Whispering Ivy dress (seen before here), which is perfect for warm weather.  The fabric has a tad stretch too, so it's good for eating.  I accessorised with a big red bow in my hair, and I wore some metallic ballet flats that I'd worn on the plane.  It was only a Wednesday night, and we were just hitting a few low key tapas bars, but like I say - we can't help ourselves!

What I Wore on Holiday: Day Wear

Today is the first part of my report on what I wore on my recent sunny holiday to Spain.  This time I decided against doing individual outfit posts; I'd still be posting them as we head into October, and in the UK it will start to get a bit depressing posting pictures of sunshine and beachwear when the nights are getting dark and all other Northern hemisphere bloggers are in tights already.  In this post I'm focusing on what I packed as day wear.  I'll follow up with a post on evening wear, and maybe squeeze another post in about what an amazing place Nerja is (just because I have SO many photos of it looking all beautiful and sunny).

Around town/sightseeing
I took a pair of Warehouse navy blue shorts, a short blue skirt, and a red knee-length chiffon skirt.  To mix and match with those bottoms, I packed an assortment of tops and shirts in cotton, linen and silk.  I don't wear strappy tops or sundresses in the daytime in hot countries, as I need the sun protection.  I did wear the Jaeger silk tunic again that I wore last year to visit the Alhambra in.  It's earned its money that tunic!

My Spanish Honeymoon Wardrobe

After last year's holiday, I was clever and made notes in the form of a 'Holiday Wardrobe' blog post about what worked and what didn't with my holiday packing, so this post about what I wore on honeymoon is partly for my own reference for my next holiday, and also because if you're like me you might be a bit nosy about what other people pack!  Don't worry, just because it's a honeymoon, I'm not about to bombard you with pictures of lacy babydolls...

City Sightseeing
For sightseeing in Granada I wore a Jaeger silk tunic, and I had another silk tunic from Monsoon that I wore to the Plaza Espana in Seville.  It's important to be cool and comfy when you're wandering around in the heat for hours on end, and to have covered shoulders for going into churches - or just to prevent sunburn in my case.

Holiday Wardrobe

Hello everyone!  Welcome to my new followers, and thank you to everyone who kept up with reading my blog posts when I was on holiday in Spain.  It was a truly wonderful holiday, though I have returned with a pot belly from all the wine and tapas, and a jelly-fish sting on my leg.  Today I want to share what I wore on holiday, and also what I didn't wear, because that's given me some 'rules' to keep in mind for future trips.

1) Beachwear: bikinis, sarongs, flip flops, beach bag and a huge hat.
I took one bikini with a 'skirt' bottom, but didn't realise that it was slightly too big, which meant that when I came out of the water the weight of it nearly pulled it off!!  So I only really had one functioning bikini.  I took 2 pairs of flip flops, which worked well, but I could also have done with an extra sarong.  The one I took was really a scarf that I used on the plane, but it's so sheer it doubled up in use.  Could definitely have used another one of those.  The best investment for the beach was my massive straw hat, that my Baby bought me for 50p!  It was like my own portable beach umbrella.  Also here, it might be worth mentioning that I had 'around-the-apartment-skimpy-wear' too, for when it was too hot for clothes but my bikini was drying out from an earlier swim.  I made good use of little bralets and shorts, in silk and cotton.
