Brighton Trip: Cake, Shoes, Walkies

I've been to Brighton! It was a visit for my sister's birthday, and we celebrated by going to a comedy club. It's the first time in a long, long while that I've been to Brighton and not been able to see the sea because of the cloud, mist and general greyness! So no pictures of the sea I'm afraid.

After a heavy night of champagne and gin, our recovery included taking the dogs for a bracing walk in the woods. We were the best-dressed dogwalkers there - me in my matching pink scarf and wellies, and my sister in her faux-fur leopard print coat.

I did have more outings planned but because of the lack of co-operation by the weather, I will have to save those for another, sunnier, time. We did manage to go out for tea and cake though to MetroDeco, a great little tea-shop and furniture shop. Everything you sit on is for sale, which made me wonder what they would serve tea on if one day someone came in and bought it all?

I was completely swung by the website for MetroDeco, which promises Parisian style, circa the 1930s, with "refinement" and "opulent surroundings". In reality, it's a little shabby around the edges (my sister had to remove a loose upholstery tack from her seat, which would otherwise have given her quite a shock!) but their cake is to die for - I had Green Tea and Chocolate Cake, which looks like you're eating moss, but tastes great! My sister went for the Carrot Cake, and murmured noises of happiness.

Having teenaged Nieces and a clothes-horse sister does have its advantages - I frequently come away from Brighton with cast-off garments, make-up and accessories. This time, I was lucky enough to gain two new pairs of shoes! Pretty floral summer wedges, perfect for a pin-up, and a pair of bow felt heels that Minnie Mouse would be proud of.

Oh, and the "Peggy" has arrived! It's much, much sexier than I anticipated however, so I'm yet to wear it, for fear of causing traffic pile-ups or heart-attacks...
I hope you're all having a good week, at least we're half-way through now!
