Dress: Whispering Ivy
Shoes: Bertie
This dress is longer on my 5'9" frame than my other Whispering Ivy dress, and as such feels a bit more formal. I would happily wear this one to a wedding or to a posh afternoon tea event. The extra lovely touches in this dress include a bit of netting for added pouf, a lined skirt, and lovely piping and bow detail around the neck. The fabric belt is also rather nice and will always last so much longer than those faux-leather ones. Overall these touches mean it's once again good quality and value for money.
I mentioned previously that the sizing varies between dresses. I wore a Medium in the 'Josephine' style and found it a tad snug across the back. Because the style of this one is belted, I chose a size Large, as you can get away with the little bit of extra room at the waist that way - and it also means this is a dress I can eat dinner in! If you want the skin-tight pinup look then I'd go for your usual size, paying close attention to the size charts if possible.
Whispering Ivy have been working on their sizing, and now do selected styles in up to size 22. For more information please have a look at their Facebook page. I've been impressed with both dresses I've reviewed and will definitely be keeping an eye on their range in the future.
I don't have such grand settings on a day to day basis, so this dress will probably next be worn to the shops, just to give my neighbours something to talk about.
I was kindly sent this dress for review. Words and opinions are my own!
Lovely! I'm glad I didn't choose this one as gosh it would have come down to the floor on me - but glad it worked for you. Definitely suits this room and the gold well - love the photos. I rarely get to be in well lit enough stylish interiors that would be good for outfit photos, but I hold out for the day... Maybe in my own house if I do manage to buy it this year :) have a lovely Sunday xx
ReplyDeleteYes it's rare to get such nice indoors ambience, all I can say is that next time I go anywhere that nice I'm taking a suitcase full of clothes and doing as many outfit posts as I can!! x
DeleteThat print is just stunning!

That makes me smile, give me a movie star over a Princess any day!!
DeleteSeriously beautiful dress! I'm always a sucker for fabrics that channel a sense of classic china patterns and colour palettes.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile ear-to-ear, as I know just what you mean giving the locals something to talk about. I am well aware of the fact that I do that all the time here in our small town with my vintage garb, too.
Have a splendid Sunday,
♥ Jessica

You look gorgeous! I'm really loving this dress on you. That print is just stunning, and that background really sets if off. That last photo especially just took my breath away.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, you look every inch the retro glamour puss! x
ReplyDeleteLovely vintage style! And you are a star in this vintage setting too. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress and gorgeous pictures! Love the pairing of this room with this dress!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful setting for a lovely dress - and lovely you, of course! Gorgeous pics. xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch nice photos there. And it's always great when something is good quality too - those little touches like a fabric belt and the detail round the neckline really do make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful dress! I myself have been wanting a blue and white floral dress for a while now, and this one is quite pretty! A great room too, it can be so hard to find nice interiors for outfit photos but fancy hotels are always a good bet!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful print! reminds me of a gorgeous vintage Chinese dynasty vase my mom has in her house. The print is truly gorgeous. I am hoping that one day she says " Since you like it a lot, have it!" You wear this dress beautifully and the cut is adorable too
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, that dress was made for that gold room! Gold and blue together are gorgeous!
