The jeans are the most expensive pair I own, from the dark days when I paid full price for clothes. They cost me £90. And to be honest are now a size too big, I think they're supposed to be quite 'pin-up' but they're a bit looser on me.
Any ideas on the age of the bag? It's got a nice metal zip, red lining, no labels, and is probably a 'tourist' bag from Spain or elsewhere in the Med. I think the string of beads is quite old, there's something about the way it feels. There's no closure, they just slip over the head. And they're much more 'minty' in colour than how they pictured; we were enjoying a day of uncharacteristic glorious sunshine and the full glare bleached them out.
Come on then, does double denim turn you off or can you cope with it?

I think the key is dark denim, myself... or basically anything that isn't acid wash! I quite often wear my mid blue denim jacket with indigo jeans though - I'm always quite conscious of the double denim thing but I don't think anyone cares! Your denim here almost looks like a cute vintage suit, which is no bad thing! The bag is very cute, but I've got no clue about its origins ;) Your hair seems really long all of a sudden, by the way - for the wedding? xx
ReplyDeleteI agree, keep it dark and double denim is a winner! That jacket is a great shape on you, I get sick of seeing all these bleached cropped examples in the shops all the time! Jealous of that bag too, looks a great size! Katie x

I love this outfit! I have also doubled up on my denim, though I think the key is matching the color, whether it's faded or dark.
ReplyDeleteYour top is so fabulous! I love the detailing so much. Your tooled leather bag is great too. And it's also interesting that it features camels! I've seen (and own) a handful of tooled leather purses that feature more Egyptian themes. So, I think Mediterranean tourist is perfect. Also, tooled leather seems to never go out of style, so it could be from almost any era!

I have been considering trying out double denim, but have been a bit nervous. You have pulled it off in such a chic way. I especially love that handbag! #stylemesunday
ReplyDeleteThis is really cute on you! I'm digging the jeans, even if they are a bit big, and the top is a gorgeous color on you. If I had to make a guess about the age of the bag, I would say 70s or 80s just from the general size and shape of it, but that's a pretty wild guess. I do love that tooled leather, though.
ReplyDeleteI've actually found myself doing double (or, gasp, triple) denim on a somewhat regular basis. I have a particular denim shirt that I like to wear with the one pair of jeans that own, and sometimes I end up putting my denim jacket on top too. It's a little ridiculous, but it's great for when it rains.
That red blouse is beautiful Porcelina. And I love the double denim. A little bit of American Patriotism with those colors - perfect for the upcoming 4th of July.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week! Ada. =)
I don't really understand why double denim is such a bad thing to many people. I don't actually wear denim - I haven't owned a pair of jeans since the early 1990s - realised I didn't like them on myself, thought, 'Don't wear them then!' and that was that. Perhaps not paying attention to denim for so long means my attitudes to it are stuck in the late 80s/early 90s.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'd take double denim over jeggings any day. The more I see of jeggings, the more I'm convinced only about 1% of the population looks really good in them.
The bag! LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the double denim. I really like the blue and red together.

Really, really fabulous styling! Far from looking like what is often called a Canadian tuxedo in this part of the world, your denim on denim feels fresh and beautiful, thanks in no small part to the pops of other colours and your magazine worthy styling.

That's such a fab term, the Canadian Tuxedo, I'd never heard that!! x
DeleteKnowing nothing about Country music double denim always reminds me of Status Quo but that's the bleached out variety, not the grown-up indigo version.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely don't look like an 1980s throwback in your ensemble. I love the North African bag especially! xxx
North Africa would explain the camels!! xx
DeleteI think you are definitely rocking this outfit! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love this denim on denim look on you! That bag is fabulous!
