Vintage Vision

If you're in South Wales and into vintage clothing, you should visit Vintage Vision, a social enterprise  based in Blaenavon that sources vintage clothing and turns the profits into schemes to support and empower local women.  They helped me - it was thanks to their free sewing classes that I was able to rescue my Downton Abbey dress.  A few weeks ago they held another sale to clear some stock, which after attending the last one I was excited to attend, so I popped along to my old Guide Hall in Abergavenny to rummage through their rails.

That pink trouser and top set was tiny, else I'd have nabbed it and pretended I was in 'I Dream of Jeannie'

Another gorgeous dress on the right, with another teeny-tiny waist.

I tried on a few things, but nothing really made me feel amazing enough to buy it.  The colour of this gorgeous mid-century blue silk jacket and dress attracted me.  It fit nicely, but there was just something about it that made me feel a bit frumpy in it, and I wasn't prepared to risk £65 on it.  So I left it there.  The only purchase I made in the end was a fun '60s hat which will debut on the blog soon I'm sure.

If you aren't in South Wales then you can buy at their online shop here instead!

  1. Ooh, ta for the link - a friend in Chepstow raves about them, but I've never got as far as one of their shops.

£65 would be a lot to spend on something you're not sure of. And there is always more vintage out there...

  2. I'm not loving the blue set either - although the colour is great! I think when a shift isn't fitted, having a loose jacket too does bring on a case of the frumps... There are more fabulous things out there just waiting for you to drop £65 on them ;) xx

  3. Looks like a fun time. Shame about not finding more treasures to take home with you.

Damn them for all being to unbelievably tiny at that time.

  6. Not loving it as is, maybe altered, but then it would lose the vintage charm.

  7. That looks like fun! I like the blue dress and coat actually - with heels and your hair up, you would look the business! But if you weren't feeling it, then it's best to leave it for someone else, and save the £65 for something that makes you feel amazing. xxx

  8. Freaky coincidence! I just checked the suit on their website and I bought a dress with the same label "Country Clothes of Cheltenham" last week. Bit mother of the bride but the colour is great on you.
    Love the trouser suit! x

  9. That is such a truly wonderful idea and way to help the community on multiple levels. I wish this initiative would spread far and wide across the world (vintage as a way of helping others always gets a bit thumbs up in my books).
