Location
In the heart of the 'Albaicin' old quarter and accessible only by foot, the hotel is tucked away down an alley just a few minutes away from the main square, amd the Moroccan and Jewish quarters. It's perfect for soaking up the historic atmosphere, and in convenient reach of the main sights, shops and restaurants.
Facilities
There was no pool, but a lovely courtyard (briskly covered when it started raining on the day of our departure!). A delightful touch is a free 'afternoon tea', which is served at 4:30pm each day and includes sandwiches, coffees, soft drinks, pastries, fruit and yoghurt. All of the public areas are very tastefully decorated in muted colours.
Service
We received the warmest of welcomes from the reception staff, and in our room found a sweet hand-written note congratulating us on our honeymoon. We promptly opened the bottle of cava that came with it and sat on our little terrace, looking over the higgledy-piggledy rooftops up to the towers of the Alhambra. Throughout our stay all the staff exuded equal warmth and friendliness, as well as being efficient and professional (and all remarkably good-looking!). I think their warmth tipped the balance and made me prefer this hotel to the Hotel Ateneo Sevilla - you can't beat that feeling that the staff actually care about you can you?
Rooms
Compact and bijou but incredibly romantic, with a small terrace with an Alhambra view. As well as all the little luxuries you'd expect to be provided (robes, slippers, toiletries, hairdryer) there was a proper kettle and some interesting herbal teas. The furniture had highlights of gold, and the room smelled wonderfully of wood and linseed oil. There were some nice Molton Brown toiletries, and the bathroom was done to a high standard. Very comfortable indeed.
Value for Money
Granada was cheaper than Seville. We paid 220 Euros a night (roughly £162 a night or $250 US Dollars), which still exceeds our usual budget, but once again - for a honeymoon we could justify it! Apparently there is also a Casa 1800 Hotel in Seville, which would be worth checking out I'm sure.
Overall, it was utterly gorgeous and I'd stay there again!
Very beautiful! All your'e succeeding in making me do with these posts is making me want to blow my life's savings on a holiday... Or maybe I just need to have a honeymoon some time soon and I too could stay in such beautiful places! xx

This looks so lovely! I'm typically such a budget traveler that I end up staying in crummy hostels with snoring roommates, but I would love to stay in such a beautiful and elegant place like this. That view is to die for, and the courtyard sounds like the perfect place to relax in the afternoon before you get ready to go out. Every post you do about your honeymoon seems better than the last!
ReplyDeleteWe don't normally travel like this either, I have to make sure I say that! But for a special occasion, this hotel was AMAZING and I would whole-heartedly recommend it. I am already planning our next trip....
DeleteGorgeous especially the rooftop view! You did stay in some fabulous places. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat headboard!!!! What a stunner! Usually, at least in chain hotels, you can the most boring, plain Jane style headboards. I think more of them need grand, glamorous offerings like that beauty. Who doesn't want to lay down under something so lovely while away from home?
