I-Spy Winter
I've been trying out my mother's new fancy bridge camera, capturing snaps of bare trees, frost-bitten blooms, legs permanently encased in boots...but the upside of winter is ales by roaring fires. Let's make the most of the excuse of wet and windy weather to stay in and read a good book!
What do you find as the 'upside' to winter? What will you miss when the sunshine arrives?

Oh, Yay! A reflex camera makes a world of difference, dear Lady. Hubby gave me a camera last Christmas and I am very happy with it. Surely you will very creative photos now. Kisses.

ReplyDeleteI think there are lots of upsides to winter! One is not sweating! Others include hot soups, wearing fur, and I personally think the trees are really pretty without leaves.

Thanks lovely, I've worn them to death though, feel like I've been in them for about 3 months straight now! Hot soups is definitely high on my list, and I love how when the leaves are gone, you see glimpses through the trees of things you'd never spotted before. P x
DeleteWhere I live, it doesn't usually get too terribly cold, but the upside of winter for me is being able to wear my knitted objects (way too hot the rest of the year), and TIGHTS. I really love wearing tights, and I think I look nicer with them than without.

ReplyDeleteWe do have flowers! Camelias (like the one pictured) flower this time of year, and we have Snowdrops and Daffodils coming through, some crocuses, so their blooms have started as well. My Dad's a keen gardener so there's always something in flower in his garden, whatever time of year. I do envy the SW of the USA though for not having to leave the house with umbrellas, wellies, etc. every day! Thanks for stopping by x

ReplyDeleteok - a propper winter like the last, not that snowless thing of this season. for the daily live that warmer weather are o.k., but when i think about how steps on -20°c cold snow sound i start dreaming of endless ski tours and "gemütliche" cabins.........

DeleteI will miss my woollies... but it's lovely getting them all out again in Autumn, and perhaps I wouldn't love them as much if I needed them all year round.

I think that's what I like too Mim, the change in seasons rather than a constant all year around.
DeleteI am a bit unsure about what camera to get, but have a photographer friend I might have a chat with. My Mum's is a Lumix but apparently has a really good lens in it. Might club together with the OH. If you have any recommendations I'd love to hear them! P x
being from Australia, I bloody adore the snow. I hope we get some soon, else this whole winter will have been in vein!
ReplyDeleteThe element of winter that I miss most once summer's sizzling heat returns is the clarity of mind that I find the colder half of the year grants me. I tend to do more writing, creating and general deep thinking during the winter, whereas my mind can sometimes feel rather parched and lethargic during the dog days.
