Something a little different today in place of the usual Sunday outfit post. Life has been hurtling along at a rate of knots and today I'm feeling more contemplative. I wanted to share these photos of a lovely little walled garden I came across on my birthday trip to Clevedon. There's something restful and cocoon like about a walled garden, and I've had a fascination with them ever since I read the Secret Garden when I was given a copy for my 8th birthday. At the time I'd have rather had a Flower Faires doll, but in time I learnt that a book was a much more powerful gift.
These beautiful gardens, a series of outside 'rooms' if you like, were attached to a gift shop that incidentally sold a wonderful selection of antique jewellery. If you're ever in the area, it's well worth a look. Just look for the sign from the seafront, not far from the pier.
So, this Sunday, feel free to press the mental 'pause' button, enjoy these photos of gardens - or if the weather's sunny where you are then head out to a real one - and gather some energy for the week ahead.
This week I'll be putting up an outfit post on Tuesday instead, as I am co-hosting an international fashion link-up with the lovely Italy-based Angela from Reasons To Dress. Please stop by then to join in, all welcome.
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend and that now and again you remember to factor in some time to catch up with yourselves!
So beautiful! I feel relaxed just looking at the pictures :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos - and they've even painted all the wood pretty much my favourite garden furniture colour (the colour of my garden bench). I wish the weather was nice enough to take a walk but it's pretty drizzly here! An international fashion link-up sounds exciting...! Have a great Sunday xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely garden! You're right, books can stay with you forever. The Secret Garden is definitely one that people have a fondness for.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you've just got to slow down. Blogging can get relentless - I sometimes have to remind myself that I do it for fun, and that it's not in control of my existence.
I'm pretty sure the Secret Garden was the book that gave me my interest in India! that really is a gorgeous garden and with added jewellery? Perfection. x
ReplyDeleteSpectacular garden ! so many beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteHow splendidly pretty! Gardens are such lovely places of inspiration, serenity and beauty. Tony and I made a point of visiting the little local (public) rose garden here this month before he left, as it will likely be on its last legs by the time he returns in early September (though sometimes, to be fair, I have seen it hold on to mid-Sept; just depends on the weather). Thank you for sharing this gem of a garden with us.
