Hat: James Egleton, via charity shop
Dress: New Look, via car boot sale
Shoes: J Shoes, from TK Maxx
Sunglasses: Polaroid, gift.
Brooch: vintage, via car boot sale
The hat is from a Luton based designer called James Egleton who was open until the 1990s but I don't know if he's still in business. He's mentioned in this very interesting article on the history of the Luton hat industry on this link here, it's a sort of hat trail. I found the hat in a Cardiff charity shop, only a few quid. My Mum hasn't yet got a hat for my wedding, perhaps she'll borrow this one. What do you think Mum?
The little dancing lady plastic brooch (who I've named Marlene) seems to be missing her cane. I picked her up with two other brooches for about 50p the lot.
On the day these photos were taken, my thoughts were turning to lazy days on the lawn, to Pimms, and freshly picked strawberries. As I write this, I'm back in tights and it's been a very wet and chilly day. Just think, the day I wore this hat could have been the British summer. I feel glad I've captured it on film.

Adore the hat - so classic and you're right, it does transport the outfit to a well-manicured lawn in the sunshine! Also loving the flutter sleeves, of course :D I wish I had the patience for thrifting as you always find such great stuff. It's looking pretty murky here today and of course, I'm supposed to be at a BBQ later. Isn't that always the way?! Enjoy your Sunday! xx
ReplyDeleteReally, really lovely, beautifully coordinated outfit. I just adore that brooch - novelty/figural pins are the bee's knees.

The hat looks very elegant, and that little brooch is gorgeous - yes, garden party ready indeed! xx
ReplyDeleteI need to embrace hats more, I'm told they suit me but I feel a bit too fancy dress when I wear them. You always look amazing in the huge ones, you've got an amazing eye for a bargin too!
ReplyDeleteKariss x
I think sometimes the small ones look odd on my head and with my face shape. I'd love to see more pics of you in hats! x
DeleteYou're so lucky you suit hats! Looks a perfect garden party outfit indeed, I hope you get an invite soon! I would have brought that brooch too, super find! x
ReplyDeleteI really like the dainty flowers on this dress, it looks great with that hat! Those shows are really cute too :) The place where you took these photos is beautiful, it almost looks tropical!
ReplyDeleteWell it's overgrown, so not intentionally tropical, but I'm glad it gives you the latter impression!! It's our garden! The plants that are a bit tropical looking are montbretia (crocosmia) and they are from Africa so I suppose that's why they have that feel x
DeleteI absolutely love the dress and the hat. Such a cute print. Blue has to be one of my favourite colours. Hats really suit you. Thank you for joining in with this week's #StreetStyleSunday x
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful. I like your dress.

That's a fab hat, and the shape really suits you. I like the way there are little pops of navy on your shoes too, pulling the whole thing together.
