Pink Martini

The Spring sunshine may have arrived but we're still waiting for the Spring temperatures.  I am keen to usher them in, and have started wearing some more Spring-like colours, like this lovely pink dress which features little martinis all over.  A martini is my favourite cocktail.  I may like my dresses sweet, but never my drinks!  The dress just had to be teamed with my vintage pink martini brooch (barely seen, look closely at the very last photo!), but disappointingly, I didn't get to drink any martinis.  I'll have to wear it again soon and head off to some new cocktail bar.

Dress: Lindybop 'Audrey'
Cardigan: New Look, via charity shop
Coat: Vintage, via charity shop
Brooch: Vintage, via charity shop
Bag: Vintage, via charity shop
Shoes: Hobbs
Gloves: Gift

The coat didn't stay off for long!  I am really, really pleased with the dress.  Being picky, it could be a bit longer on me, but other than that, the quality is good - the self-covered belt is an unusual touch for Lindybop - and it fits well.  I think I only paid about £8 for it in the sale after Christmas.  I'd tried the 'Audrey' dress in velvet and had to send it back because it wasn't up to standard, so it was a bit of a gamble trying the dress in another fabric.  I'm glad it paid off.

Tell me, does a martini appeal to you, or do you have a different favourite cocktail?

  1. Lovely dress, but I have to admit, I like my dresses AND drinks sweet :D I can't stand strong cocktails, I need drinks that are long and mild and preferably sweet. I love lime so it's always a bonus if I can stuff some lime into them as well :) My favourite has some vodka, sour apple liquouer, mango syrup and Sprite/some other mixer with a lot of lime! Another version doesn't have the syrup, but has apple juice and Ginger Ale Schweppes instead for a fresher style, and I also drink both as non-alcohol versions, since I'm not that into alcoholic beverages to begin with.

  2. I had to he same idea, bust out the pastels and hope the sun gets the idea. The wait will be worth it though. I do love a good martini, and thus print is super sweet! My favourite cocktail is a whiskey sour, makes me feel like a femme fatale in a sleezy jazz joint.

  6. Super cute! I always love pale pink and black together. The print on this dress is so fun - and you were right when you said it fits you perfectly. I have just returned from the seaside where we were rained on many times and I tried to take photos of a swing skirt, only to end up with it literally around my ears in some photos (I'm a bit insulted none of the passing cars veered off the road, to be honest)... Spring it is not!! xx

  10. What a great dress, and I love the handbag. Oh, and I've spotted the brooch, which is lovely too. I can't wait for spring temperatures so that I can bring out some lighter dresses ... xxx

  11. You're not alone on either count! I wore blue and green yesterday on purpose, just to try and remind Mother Nature of the palette she should be adopting these days again, too. :D

This is such a terrific, smile inducingly fun (seriously, I'm smiling over it right now) frock and brooch. I just love it when one can match their jewelry to their novelty print garment.

    Big hugs,

  12. Martinis for me too - although they have to be made well. That's a lovely, fun dress - it's great with the pink shoes, although I am also glad that you added the black cardi for some contrast. An outfit for a day having a lot of fun, I think!

  14. Pretty in pink! Oh for a bit of Spring. It's bitter here today.
The only martini I've ever had is that ready made Cinzano stuff served with lemonade in the 1980s. I'm such a pleb. x

  15. Oh, cute dress! You're right, the self-covered belt is an unusual thing nowadays - I'm a massive fan of them, they always look so much neater than contrast belts or ones that tie.

I like all sorts of cocktails. I do like a martini, though as we have a mint bush in the garden, in summer I usually just make mahoosive jugs of mojitos to enjoy on the patio.

  16. Oh my god, you look amazing! I have always wanted a martini print dress and I think I have now found it thanks to you! Really loving how you paired it with the vintage martini brooch too. I do like a martini, but lemon drop martinis are my favourite which certainly aren't classic, and are quite sweet/sour!

  20. I love this outfit! So sweet, and bright, cute and cozy all at the same time! I love the martini print on the dress too! I just tried a martini for the first time a couple weeks ago. Unlike you though, I do think I prefer my drinks sweet ;) <3

  21. Another great sale find! I love the print, so fun and cheeky. I like how you offset the sweetness of the print with the black cardigan, it keeps it from going too far over the top. I hope you get to drink some martinis in your martini dress soon!

  22. Pink and black ~ a winning combination ~ and definitely a cute cocktail of colour! I'm not really a martini girl myself, but the print is really fun and I think this look suits you delightfully. ❤
