Rainbow Dress

Nothing beats the ease of throwing on a dress in summer.  No top and bottom to co-ordinate, no tights to find, and underwear is optional.  It's two-second dressing, so that you have more time to get outside and feel the sun on your skin (with SPF30 if you're fair-skinned like me!).  One of my favourite summer dresses is this beautifully bright '80s dress that I found in a charity shop in Keynsham.  It languished for a year or two in the wardrobe as I tried to work out how to style it and what occasion to wear it for.  Then I realised it just needed to be thrown on.  It quickly became one of my 'holiday' dresses that I only wear for that one week's holiday in the Med I take each year.  What a waste to only wear some dresses once a year.  Time to change that - I am already planning how to wear this dress for Autumn, perhaps with tan boots and a cropped cardigan.

The parasol is one I bought on holiday in the Canary Islands, but it nearly didn't make it home thanks to the super-strict carry-on baggage rules by a certain budget airline.  It wouldn't fit in my small case, and I resolved to leave the parasol at the airport with a heavy heart.  The husband-to-be was pretty determined to get it home for me though and after comically trying it up the sleeve of his jacket (much to the amusement of the airline official!), he gently bent the handle enough to squeeze it in the case, and we just took it out again once on the plane.  Fortunately it sprang back into shape straight away, and I'm pleased to have been able to cling on to this holiday souvenir.

    You look beautiful in it. I think I found the same St Michael dress or very similar in a charity shop and it is one of my most worn and mixed dresses in the Spring and Summer!x

    Hooray for the saved parasol - I would have been heartbroken to leave that behind! I definitely think you can style this for autumn with tan like you say, but it really is a lovely summery dress too. You look so pretty :) xx

    Great colours I'm sure I had a dress with this pattern when I was little. You know your soon to be hubby is the one when he goes to those lengths to keep the parasol for you, it's gorgeous!

    This looks fantastic on you! I love the bright plaid, and I think you've done just the right thing with it - it's such a fun print you don't really have to do much more than throw it on and go. Seems like the perfect thing for hanging around enjoying the sunshine.

    It's soooo pretty and fun! I have two relatively similar (colour wise) vintage rainbow dresses myself and adore sporting them in the summer, too. They, understandably, seem to suit this naturally bright season best of all.
