Vintage Boudoir

I might not have revealed this before, but I collect vintage nightwear and lingerie.  It's a small collection of fabulously flammable nylon nighties from the '60s and '70s, silky slips from the '50s, and a few older and more delicate items, including a velvet hostess gown from the 1940s and a 1930's dressing gown.  Here's a small selection of my coveted pieces.

I think the nightwear fascination started when I saw 'Bringing Up Baby' with Katharine Hepburn.  In one scene she's wearing a sheer polkadot dressing gown whilst on the phone to Cary Grant, pretending to be attacked by a leopard.  Ever since then, I've had a bit of a predilection for glamorous nightwear.  My Mum let me wear an old knitted bed jacket of hers from the '60s when I was younger - powder blue, in the softest knit. I wonder what happened to it?  Despite my little collection, my husband prefers to see me in nightwear of the '90s grunge variety, i.e. pyjama bottoms and a band t-shirt. There's no accounting for taste.

I was aiming for 'languid' in these shots but am not sure I pulled it off - I didn't have my tripod, my husband was fast asleep, and I have no remote, so there was lots of frantic running back and forth and constructing towers out of furniture because I wanted to capture that beautiful early morning light.
